What to expect

a positive, fun dental experience

Along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend that your child’s first dental visit takes place by their 1st birthday.

Our mission is to make visits positive, fun, and educational experiences in order to build a very strong foundation for lifelong oral health and pediatric dental care.

We understand that the first visit to the Little Smiles can be scary for a child and stressful for both child and parent but we will do our best to alleviate that anxiety for you and your child.

Do’s and Don’ts

Here are some helpful tips to make your Little Smile first dental visit unique experiences

DO

Tell your child that they are going to the pediatric dentist to get their teeth counted, probably take some photos (x-rays), and clean their teeth with a very special toothbrush! If you don’t know the answer to your child’s questions, respond with “I don’t know, let’s ask Dr. Franca when we get there!”

DON’T

Please refrain from discussing any negative dental experiences or dental anxiety you may have in order to ensure a positive experience for your child. Sometimes, in trying to prepare your child for your appointment with us, you may use a scary word when describing what to expect. Let’s avoid using words such as needle, shot, pinch, injection, pull, and pain.
